A real adventure is something that barely fits into words. In this blog, I’ll try to pick the right words for what I’ve seen and done. Let me know how I’m doing.

And Me

My name is Stephen Bass. I’m currently living, working, and writing in San Diego, but will be on the road again soon.

I’m American, but grew up in Bahrain. Most Americans don’t know where Bahrain is, so I used to not really talk about it. Growing up as an expatriate made me aware of culture from an early age, though, and much of my writing (and thinking) reflects that. Travelling, like fiction, is really about the people, and I’m interested in how different cultures shape who we turn out to be.

  1. “When people ask what studying abroad was like, they don’t really understand what they are asking. The answer to their question isn’t something that fits in casual conversation. It barely fits in words.” This. Well said sir.
